The advantages of optical over copper cables are:

far smaller dimensions compared to copper cables,
the ability to transfer a large amount of information,
slight signal attenuation that allows ranges of up to 200km without signal amplification,
lower weight per meter,
easier laying both in the ground and under water, on poles or transmission lines,
lower price,
insensitivity to electrical interference, water, low and high temperatures.
Optical cables are only sensitive to radioactive radiation. Optical cable connection technology is currently the most modern way of connecting to the Internet and enables the use of the most advanced services available today.
